PROFILE
L.M. Madeira graduated in Chemical Engineering (1993) and received his PhD (1998) from the Technical University of Lisbon (Portugal) in Heterogeneous Catalysis. He joined FEUP in 1999 where is presently Associate Professor (with Habilitation) in the Chemical Engineering Department. He is the Vice-Scientific Coordinator of the research center LEPABE, member of ALICE (coordinator of the thematic line 1. Chemical industry), and Director of Studies of the Bachelor and Master in Chemical Engineering, where he teaches mainly Chemical Reaction Engineering courses and Chemical Engineering laboratories. L.M. Madeira is member of the Working Parties in Chemical Reaction Engineering and Education of the EFCE – European Federation of Chemical Engineering. His main research interests include: multifunctional reactors (sorptive-based, membrane-based, etc.), CO2 capture and valorisation (CO2 methanation, methanol synthesis, etc.), H2 production and purification technologies (e.g. reforming, water-gas shift), and advanced oxidation processes for water/wastewater treatment.
